Extreme Bathroom remodel Day 0
Have you ever had one of those days were everything went wrong? Well it happened to me. Let me take you back to Wednesday April 4th.
It started as an average day. I had to take the train to work because Susan’s car is still in shop, and is not due to be ready until Friday. I wore my spring Jacket. But a cold front, let’s make that really cold front, went through over night. It did not feel that cold. But I went downtown. I got stuck waiting 20 minutes for the 125 bus at the coldest place in Chicago.
Work was pretty normal. I left at noon when Susan arrived downtown. I went home and packed up the trailer to head up north.
At about 5:00pm I fed the Cats, and got ready to capture them. Since my brother, Larry, was coming to help me with the Bathroom remodel and the Cats would be very frightened because of all the noise. The were taken to my in-law’s house for the week. The capture and transportation went well.
I just got home when I received a call from JP. Larry was in the hospital with appendicitis and he would not be coming to help me. JP told me Larry was fine and it was really no big deal because they caught it early.
On Thursday I went to work. Thinking how I would need to adjust my schedule for the bathroom remodel. I thought it was no big deal since my Sister Pam, and her husband Lou, were heading up for a few days.
I received a call from the place that has Susan’s car. Her car was ready. But, for some reason they needed us to pick up the car that day. Again no big deal, just adjust my schedule.
Then I received an e-mail that Lou needed to work this weekend. Now I started to panic because there was no way that I could demolish the bath room by myself. Later Pam called and offered to send Lou up to help on Friday.
I left at 2:00pm to pick up Susan. I picked up Susan at 2:40pm and headed to get her car.
It took us until 4:00PM to pick up Susan’s car. But when I inspected the car, it had a new scratch on the bumper. I pointed that fact out, but the place insisted it was here since we brought the car it. They finally gave in agreed to repair the car.
We finally left our house at 5:00p,…with trailer in tow. I noticed that one of the tire trailers was low. Again I thought no big deal just fill it when I get gas.
When I did stop for gas the gas station did not have the air hose out. But the tire was holding steady.
I decided to stop at a gas station in Oshkosh to fill up the trailer tire with air. I started to fill the tire put noticed it had a big tear in the side of it and it was loosing air fast. We quickly went over to my favorite store, Mill’s Fleet Farm…this was at 8:30pm. I made a beeline to the tire department and was helped by April. I bought 1 tire on the rim, a jack and a lug wrench. I went out only to find that the tire was about an ich taller than the old tire. I had Susan go in and buy another tire/rim.
I replaced both tries/rims on the trailer. And we were back on the road by 9:00pm.
We finally arrived at 11:45pm. Lou was there .
I have a rule. For any project you must have 1 major problem , but not more than 3. I think I had my 3 major problems; Larry in hospital. Car had new scratch. Trailer tires. So let us see if that is true. More to come.
