Happy Birthday Dad
Joseph E. Wardzala Jan. 7, 1926
My Dad would have been 81 today. I wonder what he would think of all the work on the interior of the house? In my Dad's honor I am posting a funny story about him.
In early April 1986, the year my parents retired, I helped my Dad install and automatice garage door opener in the 2 car detached garage. It was avery cold day, I remember freezing my butt off in the garage (not my Bass). It took several hours to install the opener. Once we had installed we tested ther opener. I asked my Dad is he had the remote openers, he looked for them but said he must have left them back in Illinois. He said not to worry because we can try them the next trip. We then closed the garage and heading inside the house.
Later that day my Dad called for me, he told me I forgot to close the garage. I looked and sure enough the over head door was open. So I bundled up and went to close the garage. While walking towards the garage, I was about 10 feet from the garage, when the door started to close. I thought that was odd ans suspected something wrong with the opener. I stood there for a while and the door stayed closed. So I decided to head back in to the house. While walking back, the garage started to open, So I walked back to the garage. Then the started to close. So I went back to the house. The door opened... I did this several times.
Finally my Dad came out of the house laughing. I looked at him to figure out what he was laughing about. He pulled out the garage door openers from his pocket and yelled "April Fools!". Apparently he had the remotes all along, and was playing joke on me. I should have noted we put the opener in on April 1st.
Happy Birthday Dad!
